Via a SSL VPN service HDa can offer the following services
Note! If some of the methods below does not work you have to contact firstname.lastname@example.org and state your problem.
Microsoft and VMware software
Log in with your DU account below to get the software.
Download Microsoft software from: http://e5.onthehub.com/WebStore/ProductsByMajorVersionList.aspx?ws=52580b26-836f-e011-971f-0030487d8897&vsro=8&JSEnabled=1
Access the digitalbrott share and your own user share from home
By logging into this service: https://farside.du.se:10443/remote/login with your web browser and school account (username/password) you have the possibility to obtain files from the digitalbrott share (\\lagring\student\digitalbrott) or your own user share from a remote place. Note that you may have to use DU\username in the pop-up window when you login the second time in order for the file server to know that you are coming from the DU domain.
Obtain an AccessData license from home
This is only needed if you have access to run the FTK (Forensic ToolKit) software which is used in forensic courses.
Login to the service (farside) described above. FireFox seems to work best.
1. First install the Fortinet SSL VPN client (link below) and configure it by starting the application.
VMware operating system images (vm appliances) to use at home for assignments etc.
By logging in at the remote service above you can download Windows XP 32bit and Windows 7 64bit in the \vmware\windows-distance folder on the digitalbrott share. Due to licensing reasons you should only run the virtual Windows OS images found in the windows-distance folder at home.
Download VMware from: https://e5.onthehub.com/WebStore/ProductsByMajorVersionList.aspx?cmi_cs=1&cmi_mnuMain=16a020b5-ed3c-df11-b4ab-0030487d8897&ws=8e1c71e0-a008-e611-9419-b8ca3a5db7a1 or a free VMware Player (available for Windows and Linux) from: http://www.vmware.com/support/
At the first start of the Windows virtual operating system a product key needs to be entered. This key can be obtained from DreamSpark Premium (formerly MSDN Academic Alliance (MSDNAA)): http://e5.onthehub.com/WebStore/ProductsByMajorVersionList.aspx?ws=52580b26-836f-e011-971f-0030487d8897&vsro=8&JSEnabled=1
